VSE - NRW e.V. (Association of social therapeutic institutions in Northrhine-Westphalia)
As a component of the state’s youth services, VSE NRW has for many years offered needs-oriented support and advice for single parents, girls and young women who get pregnant and/or already have children. VSE NRW’s various youth support services are spread across the whole of Münster, generally allowing advice and support to be provided close to the recipient’s home.
Before utilising these services, mothers or fathers can contact the Jugendamt directly or local VSE NRW staff. The Jugendamt will invite you to a planning meeting, where all involved will identify specific needs together.
Depending on the assistance required, the mother or father will be provided with advice on and/or practical support with all psychological, medical and financial issues. This can range from finding or providing child-friendly housing, to support with antenatal classes, to emotional support as a birth partner.
Support and advice can also cover topics such as guidance on how to look after your child, parenting advice, crisis intervention, reflecting on the role of the mother/father or working out the way forward.
Women or men can be supported in their own homes, in VSE NRW housing or in the Jugendwohnhaus young people’s residential centre.
