Mother and child residential unit pursuant to Section 19 SGB VIII

Our services are aimed at pregnant women and mothers (aged 14 to 27) with children up to the age of 5, whose living conditions, age or other problems mean that they are not able to care for their child on their own.

The Sozialbüro is an independent contact point and counsellig centre for people in difficult financial and social situations.

We are

• A family counselling centre primarily responsible for families from the southern districts of Münster: Südviertel, Berg Fidel, Aaseestadt, Düesberg und Pluggendorf

• a counseling centre for specialists from daycare centers, schools and other educational institutions in our social space

Target groups

Families, parents, couples with children, single parents, separated parents, children and adolescents who are affected by the issues of "couple crisis, family crisis, separation and divorce".

VAMV is a contact point for single mothers and fathers. It lobbies for single parent families and is organised at the local, state and federal levels. The VAMV concept is to combine self-help with professional advice. This means that the association employs both volunteers and paid staff. The local associations offer a range of advice services and leisure activities.

As a component of the state’s youth services, VSE NRW has for many years offered needs-oriented support and advice for single parents, girls and young women who get pregnant and/or already have children. VSE NRW’s various youth support services are spread across the whole of Münster, generally allowing advice and support to be provided close to the recipient’s home.

A significant power imbalance can be discernible in the interaction between men and women at all levels of society. Violence perpetrated by men against women in the form of physical or emotional abuse is the extreme expression of this power imbalance.
