VAMV is a contact point for single mothers and fathers. It lobbies for single parent families and is organised at the local, state and federal levels. The VAMV concept is to combine self-help with professional advice. This means that the association employs both volunteers and paid staff. The local associations offer a range of advice services and leisure activities.
The Münster association offers:
- personal advisory sessions
- support in the event of separation, divorce or the death of a partner
- DiNo emergency childcare
- seasonal festivals and leisure activities
- international Sunday breakfast
- quarterly VAMV newsletter containing topical information
- support for single parent students via our involvement in ‘Madame Courage’
The DiNo (Dienst im Notfall = service in an emergency) project provides experienced carers who can come to your home to look after your children if you are ill. Our staff can provide information on possible help with financing.
One of the association’s key tasks is public relations work. Staff take part in events and sit on various working groups The association publishes a quarterly magazine which is available free of charge from the Bürgerberatung advice centre, the public library, the Familienbüro, the daycare centre at the Amt für Kinder, Jugendliche und Familien and a number of other advice centres.
